Every Wednesday we have neuropathology lecture, and depending on the week of the month, lecture can range from formal didactics in a conference room, to looking at slides under the microscope, to going to the morgue for some brain cutting. Practically speaking, I think most of us, myself included, find the brain cutting the most useful. It's helpful to see the 3D anatomy from different angles. As one of our attendings would say, anatomy is all about the relationships between different structures and that's going to help you be safe. Formal lectures and slides are helpful for boards studying obviously, but the anatomy is where it's at! It's the backbone of being a good (and safe) surgeon, whatever the field. Ok, I guess I should go study now....
